Sõrve Summer Camp organisers have a message for anyone still thinking about January: don’t wait too long. Registrations remain open for Sõrve 2027, but the popular week-long camp is already nearly full.
What is Sõrve?
For more than 70 years, Sõrve has been a summer fixture for generations of Estonian Australians. Children who once arrived as campers have grown up, returned as adults and volunteers, and in some cases brought another generation along with them.
For families, it is also a rather special week in the Australian Estonian calendar. Children and young people spend their days surrounded by friends, sport, games, activities and Estonian culture, while adults get the increasingly rare pleasure of knowing the kids are busy, entertained and somewhere nearby — and perhaps finding a little time to socialise themselves.
The 2027 camp will take place at the Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre in Gwandalan, New South Wales, from 3–10 January 2027. Set on the shores of Lake Macquarie and surrounded by bushland, it provides a beautiful backdrop for a week that, for many families, has become part summer holiday, part reunion and part Estonian camp tradition. Financial support available
The Hans Ots Award is available to assist interstate and regional families with travel expenses and to provide financial support for children on a case-by-case basis. Additional discounts are available for first-time children attending Sõrve and families registering three or more children.

While registrations officially remain open until December, Sõrve organisers have announced that the camp is already nearly full, so families planning to attend are encouraged to register sooner rather than later.
