The Melbourne Estonian Society “Kodu” Ladies Choir will celebrate 50 years of singing together and performing for Estonians in Australia, on 14th November 2009 and you are invited to attended this very special concert.

“Kodu” began on 31st Jan 1959 conducted by Irene Haldma . In 1965 the choir was conducted by Maila Taimre for the next 15 years. In 1980 Ausma Taves Taves became the temporary conductor. 1982 Karin Adamson became the conductor and conducts to this day. Over the years the choir has performed on Independence Day celebrations,Baltic concerts and combined with the Melbourne Male Choir.
The choir has performed for Australian audiences participating in the concerts of International Red Cross,Australia Day Theatre Organ Society and many others.
There have also been dinner dances on various themes such as Cabaret, Carnival in Rio, Persian Market to name a few. The choir launched a LP record in 1971 featuring 13 songs and the ABC has recorded 12 songs for the Estonian radio programme.
