Esto Pub Night- “Back to Eesti” Friday the 3rd of December 2010
Who in Australia that has had any connections with the Estonian community has not heard of the “Esto Pub Night”? Many have attended one of the events, if not they have been invited to one via Facebook or have read something about it on the Adelaide e-News, Virgats, our website or in Meie Kodu.
The general consensus is that they are relaxed evening. They are very welcoming and are a great opportunity for supporting the local community, make new Estonian friends or meet up with old mates. Many have even used frequent flyer points or business trips as an excuse to visit us. Any criticism has been that our themes have not always been true to the Estonian Culture.
The next Esto Pub Night is an opportunity to make up for this. On December the 3rd we have the chance to introduce to the Esto Pub Night crowd, “Hapu Koor”! This is the newly reformed Adelaide Estonian Segakoor or Mixed Choir who have already captured the hearts of the local community. Kadri Auvart has made this a truly professional choir but maintained the true fun element. We are all looking forward to their performance.
The theme for this Pub Night is a return to true Estonian culture or “Back to Eesti”. Kristina Lupp is back on board and is coordinating a modern “Eesti Külm Laud”. Only those that were fortunate enough to enjoy the Afternoon with Kristina Lupp back in April can truly appreciate what we can expect. This will be of the smorgasbord format but with a modern blend.
Our evening will be a chance to not only support the hall but it is a rare and unique chance to support the fast approaching Australian Estonian Festival. Proceeds will go to supporting the Eesti Päevad. The next Esto Pub Night will be on Friday the 3rd of December and we have finally bowed to national and international Estonian pressures and hence made the theme of this Pub Night a “Back to Eesti” event. Tom Sarapuu and his team of fearless volunteers have secured Australia’s only supply of Saku. This needs no further introduction, the last supply caused a very memorable minor murmur!
So what else could possibly create a doubt, remember our motto. Just drop in for ten minutes or stay for the evening, no booking or formal arrangements are required. You will meet friendly Estonians, enjoy a great meal, sample fantastic wines, Estonian Vodka and Cider. Drop in after being out elsewhere or come for the evening we will have fantastic music videos.
