Due to the sudden and totally unexpected arrival of our special guest on the same day of our next KiNO! night, the main feature documentary/drama we will be showing in our guests honour will be ‘August 1991‘.
“Who is this special guest we write of?”, we here you ask. Well, in a MAJOR coup for KiNO! (and after a few hasty emails…) we feel privileged to announce that Ilmar Raag will pull himself out of jet-lagged sleep to come and say ‘tere!’ to our appreciative KiNO! audience. Ilmar is an Estonian film script-writer and director (Klass 2007 – which screened at the Sydney Film Festival), ex-head of ETV in Tallinn, Ööülikool lecturer-contributor (for Vikerr Raadio) and all round know-all of Estonian film. Whether Ilmar will stay around to watch ‘August 1991‘ for the ‘000th time, we don’t know, but we do intend to hold a little Q&A before we roll the films for the night.
Whether you have or haven’t seen ‘August 1991‘ before, don’t miss out because aside from watching a great documentary/drama on the re-birth of Estonia, this is an extremely rare opportunity to not only meet the director of the film, but listen to one of the truly influential people of Estonian entertainment and one of the few people in Estonian putting film out there and on the map.
We will still be showing ‘Shift’ before ‘August 1991‘ as well as offering the regular drinks and delicious nibblies. Who know’s, there might even be a surprise in the fridge if were lucky…
As usual, doors open at 6pm. See you there
