Following the excitement and success of the Australian choir Kooskõlas auditioning for and performing at Laulupidu, in Tallinn in July, 2014, there have been several enquiries from members of the community as to whether we should form a choir to audition for the 2019 150th Anniversary festival.
To begin exploring this possibility, we hope to run an information session and workshop for interested singers at Eesti Päevad in Adelaide. The organisers of the Adelaide festival have offered to make available time within the program for this session, should there be sufficient interest from festival attendees.
We now want to gauge people’s interest in attending the information session and workshop (in Adelaide, December 2016).
We envision:
- an information session (30 -45 mins)
- a song workshop (2 x 1hr sessions, separated by a 15 min break). Songs that are traditionally sung at Laulupidu will be rehearsed and performed.
If you or any of your friends are interested in taking part in the Adelaide workshop please pre-register your interest by filling out the online form below.
Your pre-registration will allow us to contact you with links to music and other rehearsal assistance prior to the Festival.
To provide sufficient time for the Festival committee to make a “go/no go” decision on the session and to finalise the Adelaide Eesti Päevad program, we are closing the pre-registrations on 30th September 2016.
To find out what this Song Festival is all about, check out Welcome to Estonia’s info, or go directly to the current Laulupidu 2017 website.
So please, if you are interested in participating, let us know now by completing the form on the Adelaide Estonians website – http://adelaide.eesti.org.au/2016/04/28/laulupidu/
(Please fill in this form even if you can’t attend the Eesti Paevad 2016 workshop.)
We can’t wait to explore with you the possibilities of being part of a great adventure! There is no guarantee the adventure will come to pass, but the journey needs to start somewhere.
Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you in Adelaide.
