Sydney born Australian/Estonian artist Evan Indrek Pank concluded his military service in Estonia in June and went on to do an artist residency in Tartu at TYPA Centre, print and paper museum. During this time he created work for a solo exhibition at Gallery Lane Cove in Sydney as part of winning the Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Award in 2019.

“‘Attachment/Detachment’ is an exhibition that portrays the experiences of Evan Pank, navigating military service in Estonia during the global COVID-19 pandemic and the separation to his country of birth through the strict border controls of the Australian and state governments.”

A mix of contemporary and experimental print artworks, the exhibition features three large paste-up artworks and small experimental prints created with handmade paper from recycled army newspapers and spent bullet casings.
