Some people love hearing the news the moment it happens. Others are quite happy to let the week unfold, pour a coffee on Monday morning and ask, “So… what did I miss?” Whichever camp you fall into, HEIA now has an option for you.
Alongside our daily newsletters, we’re delighted to tell you about our new weekly newsletter. Every Monday morning we’ll gather everything we published during the previous week into one friendly email, ready whenever you are.
Your inbox, your choice
Our daily newsletter isn’t going anywhere. If you’re the sort of person who likes knowing about community events, interviews, announcements and opportunities as soon as we publish them, daily is still the best choice.
If your inbox already feels busy, the weekly newsletter might be exactly what you’re looking for. Same stories. Same community. Fewer emails.
One small tip: the weekly newsletter is a roundup rather than a live update. Sometimes an event lands in our inbox only a few days before it happens, so if you never want to miss a last-minute concert, gathering or community announcement, we’d recommend choosing the daily newsletter.

What we write about
HEIA is built by volunteers and powered by our community. We report on community news from across Australia — from major community events and interviews to quiet achievements that might otherwise slip by unnoticed. We celebrate, explain, remember, ask questions and occasionally discover something delightfully unexpected along the way.
We believe community news can be accurate, useful, supportive and have a sense of humour. Everything we publish is carefully edited and fact-checked because community news deserves to be trustworthy. But we also believe it should sound like it was written by humans, for humans.
Why we do this
Australia is a very big country. Some readers live five minutes from an Estonian House. Others are hours away from the nearest Estonian event. Some have grown up in the community; others have only recently discovered it. Some speak Estonian every day, while others are just beginning to reconnect. HEIA is for all of you.
We simply hope that opening a HEIA newsletter feels a little like pulling up a chair at the community table. Whether you’re in Hobart, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, somewhere in between or even farther away, we want you to know what’s happening, feel welcome and remember that you’re part of Australia’s Estonian story.
Whether you’d like a daily chat over coffee or a relaxed Monday morning catch-up, we’d love to have you with us.
Your HEIA team 💙
