Well know Adelaide Estonian community members, Katrin and Kaljo Linde’s son Johan is off to the 2012 Olympic games

AS Olympic boxer Johan Linde embarks on his attempt for gold at the London Games, he has a political heavyweight in his corner – Treasurer Jack Snelling.

Linde, by day, works in the revenue section at the Treasury and Finance Department.

By night, he trains at the ASG Boxing Club in the city.

When he heard he shared the same sporting passion as his boss, who trains at Para Hills Boxing Club, the pair met soon after.

“I’ve seen him box and he’s brilliant, he’s a superb boxer,” Mr Snelling said.

“It’s a great thing for South Australia to have Johan competing in the Olympics.”

Linde, 28, booked his place in the Australian team for this year’s Games on Sunday night. The referee stopped his super-heavyweight fight against Tongan Junior Fa just seconds into the first round after Fa was knocked to the ground.
