Sydney Baltic Markets are turning five this Saturday, 3 October 2026, bringing Estonian singing, dancing and shopping to Latvian House in Strathfield, alongside Baltic food and handmade treasures.
From 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, Latvian House will fill with Baltic food, handmade crafts, jewellery, art and homewares, alongside live music and folk dancing. Traditional Latvian food will be coming from the café, there are activities for children, and stalls this year represent Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.

Sydney Estonian folk dancers Virmalised are due to kick off the performances at 10.00 am, while Estonian choir Kooskõlas takes the stage at 12.00 pm with an Estonian music performance of their own.
There will also be familiar Estonian faces among the market stalls. Baltic Folk brings contemporary jewellery inspired by Estonian traditions, MA Handcrafted offers Madis’s handcrafted wooden bowls and ornaments, Aero Travel will be there for those whose market browsing somehow turns into planning a trip to Estonia, and Nord Haus stocks handmade homewares and textiles from across the Baltic region.
The markets have become an annual meeting place for Sydney’s Baltic communities — somewhere to browse, eat, listen, catch up with old friends and possibly leave carrying considerably more food and Baltic merchandise than you had intended.
Last year, Virmalised and Kooskõlas performed alongside Latvian and Lithuanian groups, while the Estonian stalls offered everything from rye bread, kohupiimakook (cake) and pirukad (meat pies) to folk-inspired jewellery. Baltic ambassadors joined the celebrations too, with Estonian Ambassador Jaan Reinhold addressing the community. This year’s fifth-anniversary celebration will be officially opened by the new Lithuanian Ambassador to Australia, Donatas Butkus.
For five years, these markets have given Sydney’s Baltic communities a place to meet, share and keep a little piece of home close. Happy fifth birthday, Sydney Baltic Markets! We hope there’s cake.
