Thank you! Rare migrant ship newsletters project fully funded

The Estonian Archives in Australia is delighted to report that our recent appeal to support the digitisation of rare migrant ship newsletters has exceeded its $1,000 fundraising target. We are deeply grateful to the kind donors whose generosity has made this possible.

In an earlier article, we outlined the importance of preserving this collection of rare newsletters, which records the experiences of Displaced Persons travelling from Europe to Australia after the Second World War. These fragile publications are a valuable part of our community’s history and the digitisation project will help ensure they are protected for future generations.

Thanks to the support we have received, the digitisation project is now underway.

Once the original newsletters have been professionally digitised, we will also prepare a web-friendly version so that those with an interest in this important part of our migration history will be able to access the materials through the Estonian Archives in Australia website.

The Archives team extends its sincere thanks to those who supported the appeal. Your generosity has helped make this project possible and we look forward to sharing updates as the work progresses.

Tax-deductible receipts will be sent out during July. Stay tuned for updates on the project.
